Manfrotto xpro ball head7/6/2023 ![]() I used the clamp listed and it came with a bushing in the kit. All I did was remover the screw, it took a bit of force to "break" the adhesive, put the bushing in place, add the new clamp and replace the screw. It's likely the clamp is attached with a 6mm screw and depending on replacement clamp, you might need a new bushing as well. ![]() There are a number of ball head and accessory sources for conversion clamps. Whether you will be satisfied with that head with heavier lenses, etc., might be a question that comes up at some point. There are some Manfrotto based solutions but AS is often better, more elegant, cheaper, maybe all of theses? If you really like the head, you should be able to replace the clamp with very little trouble. Since you want to go with a panorama set-up and L brackets, etc., then swapping out to Arca Swiss compatible clamps and plates is probably a good idea. If its a complete pain the whole may get a bhd2 head I did look at swapping to the q6 quick lock plate that Manfrotto make but it looks like lots of people have issues with compatibility with RRS plates etc. Looking at the parts diagram on the manfrotto website it looks like the plate is attached using a screw (which may be a 1/4" screw, 3/8" thread female - although that could also be the one for the 200pl plate).ĭoes anyone have experience with doing this with the Manfrotto ballheads?Īlso are there any particularly good clamps avaialable. I was wondering about the practicality of replacing the clamp with one which was Arca-Swiss compatible. I own a Manfrotto Xpro ballhead which I like, but I am struggling with using heavier lenses in portrait orientation without the screw on the QR plate allowing a small amount of movement, plus I would like to get a panoramic head to play with and they are all arca-swiss mounted.įurthermore I was looking at getting an L bracket, but ones for my d610 are Arca-Swiss compatible, and I don't fancy adding the weight and bulk of 2 more plates to my bag.
